This year, it’s time to take a stand to the changes in New York State. As New York slides more and more liberal, its fair representation on the national scale deteriorates as residents flee the State. In 1980, New York had 41 congressional districts. Today, there are 29 congressional districts and by the next census, it is expected to lose one or two more. Upstate has lost key businesses that created jobs from rising taxes and liberalism run amok. Thirty-five years ago, the New York Assembly had a Republican Majority. Today, Republicans hold less than one-third of the chamber. The Republican Party has been at fault for its slide, but new leaders are rising up and fighting to bring the party back to the ideas of Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani. By maintaining and increasing Republican representation, we can continue the necessary Checks and Balances government needs to succeed.
My first borough to explore is Queens. I hope to run through all five boroughs before Election Day, but in case I do not, I encourage all of you to go on line, check out the candidates that represent you and study up on them. It is important to consider new representation, if we are to see change in government.
State Senate Endorsements.
[District 11] Frank Padavan, [District 12] Thomas Dooley, [District 15] Serphin Maltese.
Republicans need to make some internal changes on how they wish to lead as a party different from the Democratic Party, but losing the State Senate is not a way to go about such change. If the Republicans lose the Senate, we’ll have one-party rule of the State and that could produce a major economic crisis for New Yorkers. Re-electing Senators Padavan and Maltese will certainly help the Republican Party keep the Senate Majority and in addition to their re-election, former NYC Firefighter & Marine, Tom Dooley should also be elected. Mr. Dooley represents the Republican ideas that have helped America in the past and he has a history of being a fighter for the people. He would make a great addition to Queens and he’d make a great addition for the State of New York.
State Assembly Endorsements.
[District 23] Gerald Sullivan, [District 26] Robert Speranza
If we need change in New York, it will start in the New York Assembly. Queens has two great candidates running in Assembly Districts that could voice opposition to the policies of Speaker Sheldon Silver. Electing Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Speranza will bring the Republican Party closer to the ever-important 50 seat minority, and important level of representation which makes sure the majority doesn’t have total control. I encourage voters in these two districts to vote out the incumbents and start fresh with new representation.
Other races.
City Council [District 30] Anthony Como.
House of Representatives [District 5] Elizabeth Berney.
Mr. Como held off opposition for an open council seat earlier this year and the Republican Party must retain this Queens seat. Mr. Como will continue to be a great representative for Republicans in the council and I encourage you to re-elect him.
Ms. Berney is running in one of three congressional seats that cross the New York City borders where Republican reprsentation is possible. The area covers large residential communities that will greatly be affected by an Obama tax increase and a tax increase is almost certain with Mr. Ackerman retaining his seat.
Regardless of your choice for president, if you are a voter in Queens, I ask that you vote Republican for your legislative offices. A divided government is a government that works. Whether you plan on voting for McCain or Obama, legislatures in New York will remain Democrat. A vote for a Republican will tell the Democratic Party that too much power is a bad thing.

See www.qgop.com for a more complete list of our candidates. Voting Republican is just about the most independent minded iconoclastic thing you can do these days in this city. Send a message. Vote Republican from the bottom up.
