FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DEMS SLAM RANDY "OUTSOURCER" ALTSCHULER FOR CLAIMING TO BE JOB CREATOR
AD BLITZ SAYS ALTSCHULER CARES ABOUT U.S. JOBS; HISTORY SENDING U.S. JOBS OVERSEAS SAYS OTHERWISE
JACOBS: RANDY, YOU CAN'T OUTSOURCE U.S. JOBS AND THEN ASK VOTERS FOR ONE
Today, Democrats blasted congressional candidate Randy "Outsourcer" Altschuler for an ad campaign claiming he's dedicated to job creation, after making his fortune from a company that exports U.S. jobs overseas. Democrats simultaneously released a video, which compares audio of Altschuler talking about job growth with news accounts of Altschuler's role as a leading outsourcer of American jobs to India, Sri Lanka, and elsewhere.
"Randy Altschuler deserves an Academy Award for looking into the camera and, with a straight face, saying he cares about American jobs. Very few candidates in memory have done more to undermine American workers than Altschuler, whose life's work was promoting and profiting from outsourcing U.S. jobs" said Jay Jacobs, chair of the NYS Democratic Committee.
"Altschuler has about as much of a chance of convincing New Yorkers he cares about U.S. jobs as Colonel Sanders has of convincing us he cares about chickens. Randy, you can't spend a career sending U.S. jobs overseas and then ask voters for one," added Jacobs.
On his website, Altschuler claims to know "the pride that comes with creating jobs." (Altschuler for Congress website, “The Issues”) In a TV ad, Altschuler stands on a factory floor and talks about growing the American economy. (Altschuler Ad, “Recycle”) In another ad, he can be seen telling the camera his "top priority" is to create jobs in the U.S. (Altschuler Ad, “Storm”).
This is belied by Altschuler's career, which was "devoted to making outsourcing happen." (Time, “Is Your Job Going Abroad?” 3/1/04, click). His personal fortune is based on OfficeTiger, a company he founded and later sold whose sole mission was to outsource America jobs to India, the Philippines, and elsewhere around the globe. (New Yorker, “Letter from India: The Best Job in Town,” 7/5/04, click). As his business partner explained, Office Tiger "hope[d] to "lead[] the move of white-collar jobs from the U.S." (LA Times, 8/29/04). Even today, Altschuler is listed on the board of outsourcing giant, GlobalLogic. (GlobalLogic.com, Board of Directors).
Perhaps it’s fitting then that Altschuler is asking New York voters to outsource their congressman: until he began his campaign, Altschuler lived in New Jersey.
