According to the NY Daily News Congressman Ackerman made a $100,000 profit in a stock he put no money down to obtain.
So what did he have to do to get such a sweetheart deal? Just hosted a meeting between Israeli Government officials and the defense-contracting firm he was given stock in in his Congressional offices! Speak about abuse of power. Isn't this what Rep. William Jefferson went to jail for?

Today Monday January 11th is the Soctt Brown for US Senate money bomb day. The Brown campaign is trying to raise $500,000 today! As you know a Brown victory next Tuesday will cause the Democrats to lose their 60 vote Super Majority in the Senate. You can help kill the Healthcare bill by donating to Scott's campaign here:

On Thursday at a breakfast meeting hosted by Crain's New York Business Rudy Giuliani stated that for him to run for Governor of NY things would have to be "bad". Well if our state's current economic and political situation doesn't count as "bad" then I don't know what "bad" is!
Here is an article I wrote talking about it and urging Rudy to throw his hat into the ring:

A friend of mine just told me about this and I think it is a great way to help a great cause by simply searching the internet.
The charity is Music for Relief (a 501(c)(3) Charitable organization dedicated to providing aid to victims of natural disasters and the prevention of such disasters) .

Last night (after the gridlock was broken) the NYS Senate voted to raise the NYC Sales tax by .5%, an almost 6% increase to the new rate of 8.875%.
The vote was 43 to 19 with many Republicans crossing the aisle to vote with the Democrats to raise the sales tax.

The NY Post has an Editorial supporting Curtis Sliwa who has been talking about running for Public Advocate as an Independent on a platform of eliminating the do nothing office which will cost $1.8 million this year (which is down from the $2.9 million the office has cost last year).
I like this quote from Sliwa "If elected I would close and padlock the office, fire all the employees and, most importantly, fire myself."

I have been talking to a lot of people about the current mortgage mess and I have been surprised by how many people really don't understand what is going on and how big a role the US Government and two Government Sponsored Enterprises (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) played in causing this financial melt down.
