The NY Post has an editorial showing NYers that Albany is going to forever be more of the same.
And Republicans -- who piously aver to tax-hike chastity these days -- voted for the bill unanimously.

I don't really need links here, but if you want one, just go to Liz benjamin's Daily Politics. She's got plenty.
Message to Rick Lazio and his campaign. The fact that you cannot talk about fixing the State economy and are more concerned about what Steve Levy does shows that you are not serious about fixing the State. If you can't convince people that you are the right choice, then the game is over and you should just call it quits. If you believe you can, then run for the office of governor.

While on vacation, I briefly heard about an issue involving West Bank settlements. The NYTimes had this story on the 11th.
Palestinian leaders meeting with Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. here on Wednesday harshly condemned Israel's decision, announced a day earlier, to add 1,600 housing units for Jews in East Jerusalem

On March 16, just over a week away, there will be a Special Election in Queens to replace Hiram "I's dinna do it!" Monsterrott in the 13th Senatorial District.
Of the 108,000 odd registered voters, expect a turnout of maybe 6,000. Maybe. The expected outcome is that a Democrat not named Monserette will likely win this seat, because the district is about 68% registered Democrat and Republicans only have 10% of the registered voters.

Have you been reading what's going on across the Hudson? New Jersians put aside their liberal leanings and decided to elect a law enforcer to manager the state. For someone who was being criticized for not being more specific on how he'd fix things, Chris Christie has been dropping the gauntlet on out of control spending, while fighting to prevent any tax increases.
Recently, the governor spoke to one hundred of the state's mayors to explain how it's time to act and fix the problem. The state has a spending fever. It needs to sweat it out and deal whether it takes six months, a year, or his whole term...

This guy looks like a good candidate and will probably make for a good race, but my question is, "Where?"

The Republican National Committee plans to raise money this election cycle through an aggressive campaign capitalizing on "fear" of President Barack Obama and a promise to "save the country from trending toward socialism."

That's the open paragraph from Ben Smith at the Politico. Apparently, the RNC believes the Party should just go on the attack, not providing the average voter a reason to vote Republican.

The top candidate for the GOP nomination for the 19th Congressional District, Nan Hayworth, has been so unimpressive that sources tell me the National Republican Congressional Committee [NRCC] has all but given up on the race.
Nan Hayworth is vying for the GOP nomination in the race for the 19th Congressional District in New York. The seat, once held by Republican Sue Kelly until 2007 -- now held by former rock star John Hall -- is considered highly winnable with the growing push-back against the Obama Administration.
The NRCC sees Hayworth as a tremendously unimpressive and uninspiring candidate who has not warmed to local party support and is considered too liberal to get the grassroots base excited. The NRCC is now realizing that she was really only taken into consideration because of her wealth and not her ability to network throughout the district...

Today, the NY Post reports another parochial school closing in New York City.
The city's first parochial school will be closing its doors in June, church officials said.
